Why Alex's
Why San Francisco Trusts Alex's for Moth Repair
Eradication, invisible mending, and white-glove valet — all from one trusted family.
Stops the Infestation
Our eradication cleaning kills moth eggs and larvae hiding deep in the fibers, so the damage doesn't spread to the rest of your wardrobe.
Invisible Reweaving
Specialist menders rebuild holes thread by thread to match the original weave, color, and texture — the kind of repair you have to look hard to find.
Decades of Fine Knitwear
Since 1984 we've cared for cashmere, wool, and fine knits from over 30 luxury brands across the Bay Area.
The Alex's Standard
From Active Infestation to Invisible Repair
Two distinct crafts handled under one roof — eradication and reweaving.
Eradication Cleaning First
Before any mending begins, Alex's Team treats the garment to eliminate moth eggs and larvae living inside the fibers. Skipping this step lets the infestation return and spread, so we always clean to stop the damage before we restore it. For pieces only needing a refresh, see our luxury dry cleaning.
Invisible Reweaving & Mending
Once the garment is safe, our specialist menders rebuild each hole by hand — reweaving wool and cashmere thread by thread, or fine-darning knit gauges to match the original. We assess every piece individually; some holes vanish entirely, while heavier damage is repaired to be discreet and durable. View our pricing or schedule a pickup and we'll evaluate the garment in person.
Door-to-Door, Start to Finish
Alex's Valet Drivers collect your damaged pieces from Pacific Heights, Presidio Heights, Sea Cliff, and across the Bay Area, then return them rewoven and finished. No storefront visit, no shipping — we come to you.

Common Questions
Moth Damage Restoration FAQ
Can moth holes really be repaired invisibly?
In many cases, yes — our specialist menders reweave wool and cashmere thread by thread to match the original weave and color, so small holes can disappear into the fabric. Heavier damage is mended to be discreet and durable. We assess each garment individually before we begin.
Why do you clean the garment before repairing it?
Moth damage is caused by larvae and eggs living inside the fibers. Our eradication cleaning eliminates them first so the infestation can't return or spread to other garments — then we move on to reweaving the holes.
Do you offer pickup and delivery in San Francisco?
Yes — we are door-to-door valet only, Monday through Saturday with next-business-day return in San Francisco, and we also serve Marin, the Peninsula, South Bay, East Bay, and Wine Country. Text 415-338-9318 to schedule.
How much does moth repair cost?
Because each piece is different, reweaving is quoted after we assess the damage in person. You can review our pricing for cleaning, then schedule a pickup and we'll evaluate the garment for you.
What types of garments can you restore?
We restore cashmere sweaters, wool coats and suits, fine knitwear, scarves, and even wool blankets and throws. If you're unsure whether a piece can be saved, text us a photo at 415-338-9318 and we'll advise.
