Why Alex's
Why San Francisco Trusts Alex's With a Stain
The difference between a saved garment and a ruined one is often the first treatment.
Diagnosed Before Treated
Wine, oil, ink, coffee, and makeup each respond to a different agent. Using the wrong one can set a stain for good. Alex's Team identifies the stain and the fabric first. We then choose the treatment that lifts it without harming the fiber.
Spotted by Hand
Every stain is worked at the spotting board by an experienced hand before the garment is cleaned. It is never flushed through a machine cycle and hoped away. Difficult marks get the patience and repeat treatment they need.
Fabric Kept Safe
Silk, wool, cashmere, and structured tailoring all react differently to moisture and solvent. We protect color, weave, and shape throughout. The garment comes back clean, rather than clean but damaged.
The Alex's Standard
Professional Spot Cleaning for Fine Garments
From a single stubborn spot to a wardrobe of well-loved pieces, treated by hand.
Stain Identified, Then Treated
Successful stain removal begins with diagnosis. Alex's Team determines what the stain is — protein, tannin, oil, dye, or a combination. We also determine what the fabric can tolerate. We then select the agents and technique to match. Coffee on a wool jacket, red wine on silk, ballpoint ink on a cotton cuff, and foundation along a collar each get their own approach at the spotting board. Difficult stains are treated, reassessed, and treated again. We continue until the mark is gone or we have taken it as far as the fabric safely allows. See our pricing or schedule a pickup.
Spotting, Then Cleaning
Spot treatment is the first step, not a substitute for cleaning. Once a stain is lifted, the garment moves on to be cleaned and finished by the method its fabric demands. It returns fully fresh, rather than spot-cleaned in one place. This hand-first approach is part of how we care for every piece in our luxury dry cleaning. Alex's Valet Drivers collect and return everything at your door across San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Common Questions
Stain Removal Frequently Asked Questions
Can you really get red wine or coffee out of a fine garment?
Very often, yes — especially when the stain is seen promptly. Alex's Team identifies whether it's a tannin, protein, oil, or dye stain. We match the treatment to the fabric and spot it by hand before cleaning. call 415-338-9318 and tell us what happened, so we can plan the treatment.
I already tried to clean the stain at home — can you still help?
Usually, yes, though it helps to know exactly what you used. Home remedies can set certain stains or leave a ring. Tell us what was applied when you call 415-338-9318. Alex's Team will assess the piece and treat it as carefully as the fabric allows.
